Dena > Wildrose charcoal kilns. From 1877-1878, wood was harvested locally, packed within the kilns and burned into charcoal, to be used to smelt precious metals from ore in a processing plant in the desert about 25 miles away.  One hundred and thirty years later, the new growth trees nearby are still pretty small.
